Fitzy Declares War on Supermarkets

Northampton's Market has been the heart and soul of our town centre for hundreds of years

As a market trader myself, the growing might of the greedy supermarkets is really bothering me.

Americans know all about the life draining out of town and city centres because of Walmart, the world's largest retailer.

The recent competition commission's report saying that Britain needs more supermarkets is out of touch with reality.

The recommendations of the report will drive another nail through the heart of Britain's high streets.

This New Labour Government could make it mandatory for supermarkets to take back packaging waste and make all retailers charge for plastic carrier bags as the Irish Government has done.
