If any of your readers have not yet visited the newly-opened Fishmarket, I would certainly recommend they do so.
I went over to have a look after the reopening on Friday, and was amazed!A wonderful transformation has taken place, and the interior of the building is a blaze of natural light reflected from the new white surfaces. The interior now looks about twice the size it was before, and good design has ensured that it will be an excellent place to exhibit works of art of all kinds, and host performances, in the coming months.
The cafe has been transformed into a warm and welcoming place, with the decor both informal and friendly, an ideal place to pause over a cup of tea or coffee.
There are some nice little shops to browse around in, with arts and crafts and books.
I must not forget the new garden area too, in the old courtyard. This is still a work in progress, but already an amazing cool place, in comparison with the dump it was before.
The young people associated with the design and all the work that has gone into the old Fish Market deserve full marks for an excellent job. It is truly an asset for our Town Centre, and will become even more so when it houses exhibitions in the months to come.
I hope NBC will feature it as one of the top places to visit on every guide to the Town Centre, and I would like to thank all those people concerned with its renovation for doing an excellent job, well done! Northampton and its market traders are proud of you!
