popping open the bubbly after it was revealed the market would receive an investment of £900,000 to rejuvenate it and bring it back to more prosperous times.
I'm not overjoyed and very concerned by the loss of more stalls to make way for the so-called entertainment area because I honestly feel it will signal the end of the market. A consultation with all stallholders must take place soon, because we feel let down by the local authorities.
It is a great failing of many councils that they never take free advice from people of great experience who are on the spot but are willing to call in some inflated consultants, at great expense to us taxpayers, who know and care nothing about the market and the effects their actions have on people's livelihood.
