...to solve the current financial crisis. It's up to him to prove to the electorate that this is the case. I suspect that those plotting against Gordon Brown were more concerned with their own jobs than the jobs of the working man.
It may be time for a windfall tax on the greedy energy companies, but it has to be done in a way that prevents them from making up for it by screwing their customers - that's you and me - even harder than they do now. The corporate greed of these energy companies has to be strictly regulated, not 'self-regulated' as at present. 'The writing is on the wall' for these companies; if they refuse to be regulated they should be nationalised; that way we'll all have a piece of the cake.
I get no pleasure out of saying 'I told you so', but one of my concerns at the General Election in 2005 was the irresponsible lending of all the big banks. Now we can see where it has led them; not just here, but worldwide. Huge amounts of taxpayers' money have been put at risk to rescue a corrupt and unregulated banking system. They would have gone bust without us, the taxpayers of the world. Time they knuckled down to regulation, too.
Fancy a party? Like the parties I had after Margaret Thatcher and Tony Blair went, I'm waiting for the 'G.W. Bush - The Stupid Cowboy Retires' party.
I sure hope that Barack Obama is the next President of the USA.
