Northampton Borough Council have frozen the proposed market move until after the 18th of March, when the Cabinet will consider the Market Traders' Petition.
On the surface, good news. But it also gives them a breathing space, as they are in the mire - I forget the French word for it - because they have insufficient steel stalls for all the regular traders on some days of the week, in their new layout.
Insufficient stalls? Yes, they couldn't even get that right, a simple maths exercise. It just shows the questionable quality of the people NBC have in charge, all the way up and down the ladder. They will either have to add in a row of stalls and alter their masterplan, or force regular traders to take the highly unpopular gazebo pop-up stalls.
We told them they wouldn't have enough stalls about a year ago, but of course they knew best, and their greed dictated a larger empty space. Most of these people would have difficulty organising a drinking party in a brewery.
