As a candidate for Northampton North I've had many good wishes given me over the last few days, from shoppers and traders on our market to the hard-working folks at the 'Save Our Services' campaign, who have their own candidate, Dave Green, who is standing in Northampton South.
It's good to know your efforts are appreciated by local people, who ask you what is going on. I have often been asked recently: 'Why have they blocked off the bottom of the Square, Fitzy?' and 'What is this they're doing with fairy lights?' and of course 'What are they wasting public money on next?'
There's no doubt Northampton people have far more common sense than the Liberal Democrat blunderers they voted in. They see public money being squandered on a fountain and fairy lights while essential services and public toilets are threatened with closure, and it just doesn't make sense. If you live in Northampton don't vote Liberal Democrat in the coming General Election is the best advice I can give - the Lib-Dems have done quite enough damage here already.
As I'm sure everyone is aware, I'm always open to good ideas and advice, and I would greatly appreciate any offers of help and information in this forthcoming election. Whether it's putting up a poster in your window and posting a few leaflets in your street or neighbourhood, or taking my views on board and discussing them with your friends and neighbours, or writing in to give me your support. Call by the market and see me if you're in town, I'm right outside the Grosvenor Centre. If you prefer to write to me, click my email address below. Either way I look forward to hearing from you.
