Perhaps because I was born, lived, and worked in Castle Ward most of my life, I honestly feel I owe the place a favour, and want to see it restored to something like the busy place it used to be.

As a proud market trader my faith in the current system was shattered four years ago by the ridiculous plans and proposals put forward by Northampton Borough Council for our lovely Market Square. I just had to become politically involved; it's the only way I can 'have my say'.

The past four years have seen an incredible shambles in politics in Northampton; anyone who cares about decency and standards in public life has a duty to do the best they can to bring about a higher standard of both public and political behaviour. I shall continue campaigning for the Town Centre and its people.

Now we have the Conservatives in charge, and so far they have been playing it carefully, and are showing concern for the Market and its Traders. They have promised not to change anything suddenly and without careful consultation, unlike their Lib-Dem predecessors, who got everything they deserved from the voters of Northampton at the borough elections in May.

So far, so good. Lets hope it continues.
